Independence Community College (ICC) is seeking applications for the position of Help Desk Technician and Web Content Manager.  Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serving the needs of full and part-time students, has initiated continuous quality improvement through the AQIP accreditation process.

Position Summary

The college is seeking a team-oriented professional for the position of Help Desk Technician and Web Content Manager to provide technical support, help and training to students, faculty and staff, and will provide strategic direction and management of the ICC web site (www.indycc.edu), including writing, editing, and producing content.   The Technician reports to the Chief Information and Facilities Officer.

 

Qualifications

This position is about hands-on experience and requires a working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot maintain and repair computer hardware, software and networking equipment required. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista) and Microsoft Office programs (Office XP, 2003) required. Mac OSX experience preferred. Web design/development, Blackboard use and previous experience in a help desk environment preferred.

 

Position Information

The Help Desk Technician and Web Content Manager is a full-time, twelve-month position with insurance, vacation and retirement benefits.  The monthly salary is $1,971.67, which when annualized equates to $23,660

Job Description

Help Desk Technician & Web Content Manager

The Help Desk Technician and Web Content Manager reports to the Chief Information and Facilities Officer to provide outstanding technical support, help and training to students, faculty and staff, and will provide strategic direction, management and facilitation of the ICC web site (www.indycc.edu), including writing, editing, and producing content.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

1.      Assist students with technical issues.

2.      Assist students and faculty with Blackboard/Angel issues.

3.      Create and conduct training for faculty and staff as needed.

4.      Maintain ICC website, including creation of new and updated content.

5.      Facilitate ICC website content updates from various groups on campus.

6.      Provide hands-on help as needed to students, faculty and staff for computer/technical related problems.

7.      Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to computer repairs, and network maintenance.

10.  Flexibility to adjust schedule with short notice to meet current needs and requirements.

Specific Qualifications

 

1.      Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair computer hardware, software and networking equipment required.

2.      Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista) and Microsoft Office programs (Office XP, 2003) required. Mac OSX experience preferred.

3.      Web design and development experience highly preferred. 

4.      Blackboard/Angel experience preferred, but not required (initial training will be provided if necessary).

5.      Previous experience in a help desk environment preferred.
