Independence Community College’s Quiz Bowl team competed at the Kansas Collegiate Quiz Bowl (KCQB) State Championship on April 17–18 in Salina, Kansas, representing ICC among community colleges from across the state.
During the competition, the ICC team was recognized for its character and conduct, earning this year’s KCQB Colin Matz Memorial Sportsmanship Award. The award honors the team that best exemplifies respect, integrity, and positive sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Students representing ICC at the competition included Katrelle Narcisse, Anadora Seiff, and Michael Hawthorne.
“I’m incredibly proud of how our team represented ICC,” said Sally Kittrell, Quiz Bowl coach. “Their knowledge and preparation are impressive, but what stands out most is their respect for others and the way they support one another. This award speaks to the character they bring to every competition.”
The recognition reflects not only the team’s academic dedication but also its commitment to teamwork and professionalism, all values that are central to Independence Community College.
ICC is proud of the Quiz Bowl team for representing the College with excellence and integrity on the state stage.
