The Independence Community College (ICC) Cosmetology program is turning creativity and compassion into action this November with a month-long Food Drive to support local families in need.

Inspired by one of ICC’s cosmetology students, the initiative invites community members to bring non-perishable food items or canned goods to the ICC Cosmetology Clinic in exchange for a free haircut or a free basic manicure.

“This idea came directly from one of our students, and it’s a perfect reflection of the giving spirit we see every day in our program,” said ICC Cosmetology staff. “Our students are learning not only how to serve clients, but how to serve their community, and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.”

All donated items will be distributed to local food pantries and organizations helping Southeast Kansas families during the holiday season.

The ICC Cosmetology Clinic is located inside the West Campus Cosmetology Building at 2615 W. Main St., Independence, KS. Appointments are available throughout November and can be scheduled by calling the Cosmetology Department at (620) 331-4100.

Community members are encouraged to join in, get pampered, give back, and help make a difference this holiday season.
