ICC is proud to introduce ICC Works, a paid internship program designed to connect students with real-world career experiences while supporting local workforce needs.
Through the ICC Works program, eligible students have the opportunity to participate in paid internships with local employers, gaining hands-on experience in fields such as business, healthcare, technology, skilled trades, agriculture, education, public service, and more. The program emphasizes career exploration, skill development, and meaningful professional connections that extend beyond the classroom.
“ICC Works is about creating opportunities for our students to apply what they are learning in real-world settings while building confidence in their career paths,” said Whitney Lanning, Program Director. “By combining academic learning with hands-on experience, students are able to develop practical skills, earn income, and establish connections that will benefit them long after they leave ICC.”
Students participating in the program can expect to gain valuable experience while earning pay, receive guidance and support throughout their internship, and explore a variety of career pathways. To be eligible, students must be enrolled at ICC, eligible to work in the United States, able to commit 10–20 hours per week for 8–10 weeks, and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
In addition to benefiting students, ICC Works also provides local employers with access to a motivated and developing workforce. Employers have the opportunity to mentor students, contribute to hands-on learning, and strengthen their talent pipeline within the community.
“Programs like ICC Works play a critical role in strengthening both student success and regional workforce development,” said David Adams, Vice President of Operations. “By connecting students with meaningful, paid experiences, we are not only preparing them for successful careers but also supporting local employers and contributing to the long-term growth of Southeast Kansas.”
