ICC Theatre Department to Present Ride the Cyclone March 13–15

The Independence Community College Theatre Department invites the community to experience the bold, funny, and heartfelt musical Ride the Cyclone March 13–15 in the William Inge Theatre. A special student matinee performance will also be held March 12 as part of ICC’s Spring Arts Spectacular.

Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, Ride the Cyclone tells the story of six Canadian high school chamber choir members who meet an unexpected fate in a roller coaster accident. Stuck in limbo, they are guided by a mechanical fortune teller, The Amazing Karnak, and given the chance to share their life stories through song in a competition for the opportunity to return to life. Blending humor, emotion, and powerful musical performances, the show explores themes of identity, dreams, and what it truly means to live.

The production showcases ICC student performers, designers, technicians and crew in a dynamic and imaginative theatrical experience that balances heartfelt storytelling with high-energy musical numbers.

"ICC's production of Ride the Cyclone explores the idea of appreciating your life moment-to-moment. The characters sing about missed opportunities and unrealized dreams only to realize how much they did have in their everyday lives. Student performers, designers, technicians, and crew members are all working together to weave that appreciation for the present into all aspects of the show, and we cannot wait to share it with you!"

Public performances will take place:

  • Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday at 2 p.m.

Admission is free, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This production includes mature language, content and themes.
